Units Celebrate with ode to heroic "Bud"

The Units are proud and humbled to win this most prestigious tournament. Celebrations by all concerned have been dangerously boisterous, and many thousands of Units fans have forever abandoned work, family and sleep and vowed to bask in the glorious celebration until their final day on earth. Chief among the affections of the faithful is superstar striker and venerated actor Charlie "Bud" Tingwell. "Bud" was unquestionably the Units brightest star of the cup, scoring an unfeasably amazing tally of 9 goals, including 2 hattricks and the triumphant 3rd goal in the final. To forever honour his name, The Units are in the process of expanding their stadium to a capacity of 20,000, with the addition of the "Charlie Tingwell stand".
The Units would like to thank all teams participating in the Nuclear Cup, especially the worthy finalists Green Loraxes. After 3 amazingly hard fought and spectactularly skillful contests, including the now legendary final, the Units-Loraxes rivalry is now certainly the most famous in world sport!
Bring on Nuclear Cup 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE UNITS CROWNED INAUGURAL NUCLEAR CUP CHAMPIONS

The Units managed to unite as a true team when it really counted, dominating the second-half of the Nuclear Cup final, scoring 3 unanswered goals to take out the inaugural Nuclear Cup despite being down 1-0 at half-time.  In the recently upgraded and most advanced Hattrick arena around, Arrakis-Thneeds Stadium (pictured) hosted the biggest match of the season, treating the fans to this amazing historical event.  As soon as the umpire blew the whistle at 90 minutes, Units players converged together and performed what is believed to be some sort of ritual (pictured), speculated by some to be a dedication to a type of God, referred to by some Units players as the "Oracle".  The details, origins and customs of this religion remain largely unknown.

In others finals action today there were some extraordinary games.  A tough but solid victory by Bluthenthal da 3 took out the BRONZE medal over BRAP2.  In arguably the match of the season, More Fire! defeated Gaeta in extra time to win the DIVISION B FINAL.  And despite such a build-up, and a seven-hour shopping session by Nuclear Cup organisers yesterday to purchase the perfect wooden-spoon for Mababies, Mababies disappointed everyone by winning the match and losing the WOODEN SPOON to darkness12.  The spare wooden-spoon was generously donated to the nuclear explosion relief effort (see post below).

The final standings/rankings of all Nuclear Cup contenders is:

1.   The Units
2.   Green Loraxes
3.   Bluthenthal da 3
4.   BRAP2
5.   More Fire!
6.   Gaeta
7.   Mababies
8.   darkness12

NUCLEAR CUP FINALS ANTICIPATION EXPLODES

As everybody already knows, The Nuclear Cup Super FINALS week starts next week!  The anticipation of the most spectacular week in World sport has prompted many Nuclear Cup parties around the world, but has placed the lives of millions at risk of nuclear explosion, and many millions more at risk of a slow and painful death caused by the excessive radiation that they will receive leading to cancer and other diseases.  Already, nuclear explosions have occurred in Cardiff, Ulan Bataar (pictured) and Adelaide.  These disasters have prompted some people to question the Nuclear Cup organisers decision to name this tournament The "Nuclear" Cup.  However, a brief statement by Nuclear Cup organisers stated "As long as no Nuclear Cup players are blown-up by a nuclear explosion, wiping them out for at least 4-6 weeks, then we don't give a shit".  A sentiment shared by most around the world.

Nuclear Cup Finals Week matches:

Green Loraxes        vs   The Units   (NUCLEAR CUP FINAL)
Bluthenthal da 3     vs   BRAP2        (BRONZE MEDAL)
Gaeta                        vs   More Fire!  (DIVISION B FINAL)
darkness12               vs   Mababies    (WOODEN-SPOON)

I am not exactly sure what is the best for home grounds - any thoughts let me know, or work it out between yourselves!

Bluthenthal defends line-up decisions against The Units

Bluthenthal da 3 has defended its lineup decisions for the Nuclear Cup semi-final against the Units, in which the Units pulled-off an amazing 1-2 victory at Bluthenthal's home ground. A number of inexperienced and reserve team players (Leonard Carp pictured) were called-up for the clash, prompting a number of commentators and fans to question the tactics of Bluthenthal manager. Bluthenthal made an offical statement today saying, "Clearly we played our strongest line-up - and we will PAVE everybody who thinks otherwise - what da Hell!!!! Perhaps if we wore Mankinis things would have been different".

The Units will face the Green Loraxes in the Nuclear Cup final next week. This will be the third clash of the season for these two teams - with the Loraxes having the slight upper-hand in the first two clashes.

Although Mababies League campaign is going well….it is quite clear that Mababies will be taking out the wooden spoon in the Nuclear Cup’s inaugural season…so... I thought I would give the organisers a hint as to what sort of wooden spoon I would like sitting on my desk!!! Or outside my house!!!

Amazing Victory to BRAP2 ends Regular Season

Today's matches concluded the inaugural Nuclear Cup regular season with Bluthenthal da 3 and the Green Loraxes finishing top of each of their pool. However, Nuclear Cup favorite, Bluthenthal da 3, suffered an incredible defeat this week at the hands of BRAP2. This continued the amazing form of BRAP2 in recent weeks, and has no doubt got the attention of other Nuclear Cup teams and and demonstrates that BRAP2 is a strong contender for the Nuclear Cup.

The Finals start next week!! The matches are as follows.

Semi 1 Bluthenthal da 3 vs The Units
Semi 2 Green Loraxes vs BRAP2

Div B Semi 1 Gaeta vs Mababies
Div B Semi 2 darkness12 vs More Fire!

NOTE: Matches in the finals are to CUP GAMES (not normal).

The home ground I think will be just be as above because home ground advantage won't effect 3 of the matches - However, Bluthenthal and The Units might have to work this out between themselves - If they want to organise a 'neutral' ground or perhaps work out a reason why one or the other should be at home - perhaps whoever has the more points/goal diff. from regular season? - therefore that would be Bluthenthal. But let us know what you decide.

Cheers,
Nuclear Cup
